I was terrified by altitude sickness before going — read everything and scared myself. In reality the acclimatization was well-managed, the guide was constantly monitoring everyone, and the pace was conservative enough that I never felt out of control. Day 9 to Base Camp is genuinely hard but manageable with the right support. Standing at EBC I felt both tiny and enormous simultaneously.

Our guide checked our oxygen levels every single morning before trekking and every evening after arriving. Any time someone reported feeling off, he checked again immediately. This is the first review I've written without being asked. It deserves one. The trek is physically demanding, the tea houses are basic above 4,000m, and the altitude is very real — but none of that matters when you're at Kala Patthar watching the most spectacular sunrise on the planet. Guide was exceptional, health monitoring was thorough, every detail handled perfectly. A customer for life.

14 days. 130 kilometers. 5,555 meters. One sunrise I will describe to my grandchildren someday. The trek was the hardest and most beautiful thing I have ever done. This was a birthday gift from my husband and it was perfect in every way. Guide Lakpa was wonderful with our mixed group. The tea house food was much better than expected — dal bhat, garlic soup, apple pies in Namche. What I wasn't ready for was how culturally moving the whole experience would be. The Tengboche Monastery, the memorial at Thukla, the prayer flags at Base Camp. A deeply beautiful journey.

68 years old and in reasonable shape from a lifetime of hillwalking in Scotland. My family was worried. I was not. Guide set a pace perfectly suited to my age and experience.
